Bacon Wrapped Onion Wedges
Sweet, savory, and irresistibly crisp, these bacon-wrapped onion wedges strike the perfect balance of flavor and texture. Ingredients
1 package (12 oz) bacon
1 large red onion
Brown Sugar Paste
6 Tbsp brown sugar
3 Tbsp soy sauce
2 tsp balsamic vinegar
Instructions
Soak 20 toothpicks in water for 10-15 minutes.[1]
Preheat oven to 400°.
Line a baking sheet with foil and add a wire rack.
Cut bacon strips in half. Set aside.
Cut the red onion in half. Cut each half into about 10 small wedges, enough for each half slice of bacon. Keep the outermost 4-5 layers. Set aside.
Make the brown sugar paste.
In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar, soy sauce, and balsamic vinegar.
Set aside.
Assemble wedges.
Wrap an onion wedge with bacon and secure with a toothpick.
Repeat for each wedge.
Brush each wedge with brown sugar paste and place on wire rack.
Bake for 8 minutes on each side or until bacon is crispy.
